Strongly established in

Our community

As a much-loved community kindergarten for many generations over the past 60 years, St. Peter's Kindergarten is a place where families are appreciated and parent involvement is not only encouraged, but entirely valued to support our operations.

Our Community

Over the decades, St Peter's has become an integral part of our local community.  We have developed important connections with various of the local Primary Schools, the local Library, Bayside Gallery, and parks and playgrounds, as well as local shop and business owners.  We care for our environment and community and are involved with the local Landcare group with annual planting days.

Our landlord is the St Peter's Church who are supportive of our ongoing improvements to both the outdoor playground which had a major upgrade during 2023, and we are close to embarking on an upgrade to the entrance foyer, bathrooms and deck area to be completed in 2025.

With a dedicated and hard-working community of volunteers in our Committee of Management, through strategic planning and fundraising, we continue to provide and improve on our positive and engaging play based learning and education journey for all children.

Should you be interested in joining our committee, or have some skills you think might benefit the kindergarten, please get in contact.

Working Bees

At SPK we have at least two working bees each year utilising volunteer parent labour to help with maintaining the playground, equipment and classroom.  The generous support of parents assists the kinder budget by reducing the requirement to pay for many of these jobs to be completed.

In 2023 we completed a total playground makeover meaning the maintenance requirements are relatively minimal.

However, there are always odd jobs such as fixing chairs, painting walls etc. that we also need help with so if you are willing to lend a hand at any stage please email our Maintenance Officer on: stpkmaintenance@gmail.com

Classroom Help

We are very proud of, and grateful for all the parent help and support we are fortunate to receive each year.  Involvement in your child's early education is an important contribution not only in their journey, but is also incredibly helpful for all our staff .

All parents and/or carers need to provide a copy of a current Working With Children's card before volunteering at kinder.

Fundraising events

While we continue to opt in to be a part of the ‘free kindergarten’ government scheme, we recognise that there are essential aspects not covered by the funding. Our mission is to bridge the gap for all those extras that make our kindergarten extraordinary - from updated toys, to books, furniture, and maintenance.

We warmly welcome your help and support to the committee and kindergarten during the upcoming working bees or fundraising events. Your participation, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact.
