Our Program
The program planning for each group is undertaken on a regular basis with activities and experiences, planned to stimulate children’s interests and foster their development. Each group has a specific program designed to reflect the individuals who make up that group. The program is graduated and detailed and designed to meet the individual needs and abilities of each group member.
Appropriate controversial topics may be included, e.g. “Death of a Family Pet”, “Separated Families” etc. Despite the connection with the Anglican Church, formal religious instruction is not included in the program. However, the children are involved in formal and informal participation in Christian festivals such as Easter and Christmas.
Other cultural events, which are celebrated by individual members of a group, may be incorporated into the program to foster a multicultural perspective, e.g. Chinese New Year.
The children will also have the chance to participate in formal and informal learning of the Chinese language and culture, along with various environmental and gardening issues. Cooking is also incorporated into the program.
The program is designed to provide a balance between the need for active, as well as passive play, indoor and outdoor play. The children work within large and small groups as well as at individual activities. Appropriate excursions/incursions may be organised to compliment the program.
Teachers will provide an outline of each program, to be displayed for all to see. Confidential records of each child will also be maintained. Communication between parents and teachers is strongly encouraged, on a regular informal basis, and observations and records will form the basis for teacher and parent interviews regarding children’s progress and any special needs.
Current information about our program can be read in the Newsletters.
